Price:
$12,495
Summary:
Used 1967 Austin-Healey 3000 Mk III BJ8, 60,177 miles, Blue
Description:

Needs a full restoration, but mostly complete, and surprisingly solid condition. Practically it's entire life in a single multi generational family in warm southern Alabama where they dont salt the roads.Paperwork includes the original Bill of Sale on 8/10/67 from White Motors in Mobile AL to the first generation of the family and shows serial number and engine ID number. Heritage certificate, matching numbers Car No HBJ8L41045, Body # 85842, Engine #29K-RU-H-15627, Trans 15536, Rear Axle 14459, Key FS 901. Car No. tag new due to sandblasting damage. Pictures of Car/Body # tag, shock tower, engine ID plate, trans # stamp, rear axle # stamp, and ignition switch face show the numbers.Originally Ivory White over Red interior. Only 60,177 miles showing on the odometer. Was disassembled quite a few years ago, with the intent for a V8 conversion, ostensibly by the 2nd generation. Frame stiffened with angle iron, motor mounts cut out, and portions of the footwells removed, but no progress beyond that. Light surface rust is extensive, but the frame and outriggers are surprisingly solid. Inner and outer sills are still solid except in a couple of spots, particularly forward of the rear wheels. Missing floor pans but they were likely rusty anyway. Worst rust at bottom of a couple of fenders and the boot floor. Shrouds look to be in good shape, sheet metal fenders/doors serviceable but need some lower repair. Convertible top frame operates and is in good shape. Top looks surprisingly original, but torn and unuseable. Seat frames in good condition, seats reupholstered in non-original style, but would need recovering anyway. No carpet, panels need to be replaced. Rear seat and backrest/parcel tray assemblies are complete. Original instruments and switches look to be in good shape. Bakelite covering coming off of the banjo steering wheel. Engine turns by hand, radiator is original. There are a few bits and pieces missing in the engine compartment - wiring harness, O/D kick down switch, copper heater tube.Dozens more pictures available showing condition of body/frame. A great platform from which to start a restoration. Clean title in current owner's name. Make an offer!
